This remarkable book is devoted to scientifically based skincare and aesthetic tools and approaches, as well as practical recommendations for managing atopic dermatitis and psoriasis — keeping the skin in remission, reducing the severity of clinical symptoms, and treating aesthetic problems without using medications or with a significant reduction in their doses.

For a long time, it was thought that dermatologists only should manage patients with atopic dermatitis and psoriasis. However, recent studies have shown that epidermal barrier disorder is the critical factor in developing these diseases along with immune dysfunction. This means that skincare specialists are just those who can help patients improve their skin condition and appearance using special topical skincare products and treatments.

Unfortunately, many skincare specialists are not yet familiar with or underestimate the potential of new cosmetic and aesthetic approaches, which are increasingly being introduced in advanced clinical practice and show excellent results. We want to fill this gap — that’s what our book is about.

Each disease in the book is allocated in a separate part. The first chapters introduce the reader to the current views on pathogenesis and the skin’s characteristic features. Mechanisms of development of clinical manifestations of atopic dermatitis and psoriasis are considered in terms of different perspectives of skincare and aesthetic treatment.

The following chapters contain information about the possibilities and limitations of using cosmetic products, injectables, aesthetic devices, and nutraceuticals. We talk about how to properly clean the skin and choose the tools of primary care, the main ingredients of cosmetic and nutraceutical products and mechanisms of their action, how cosmetic/aesthetic treatments must be performed, and what is contraindicated in atopic dermatitis and psoriasis.

They are separately considered features of the skin microbiome and their influence on the dynamics of atopic dermatitis and psoriasis. According to modern knowledge, forming a healthy gut and skin microbiome may be another leverage for managing diseases.
